GRANTS

GREAT BRITISH INSULATION SCHEME (GBIS)

Eco 247 is proud to be part of the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) — a government-backed initiative helping UK households stay warmer and save money. Whether you're a homeowner, tenant, or landlord, you could qualify for free or heavily subsidised insulation upgrades.

You might think that your home is pretty warm, but according to a report by the Green Building Council as many as 25 million homes are not expected to meet government standards for insulation by 2050. So, your home may not be as well insulated as you think.

Why is home insulation

so important?

Ensuring your home is correctly insulated is one of the best ways to make sure that your home is warm in the winter and cooler in the summer months – it can also save you up to 40% on your heating bills. If your home is not well insulated it is like going out on the coldest day of the year without a hat or a coat on.

Unfortunately across Great Britain there are still a lot of homes with very poor or no insulation. As a result they have higher energy bills and a lower energy efficiency rating than they could have.

While big improvements to energy efficiency have been made over the last few years with energy efficient appliances, many people don’t realise that one of the best improvements you can make is to install cavity wall, loft insulation, room in roof, and internal wall insulation – and if you’re eligible it can be done for free.

What Is GBIS?

GBIS is a nationwide scheme designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes across Britain. It targets properties with poor insulation and high energy bills, offering single insulation measures like:

- Loft insulation

- Cavity wall insulation

- Solid wall insulation

- Room-in-roof insulation

Unlike ECO4’s whole-house approach, GBIS focuses on quick, impactful upgrades that make a real difference.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if:

  • Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G

  • You live in a property within Council Tax bands A-D in England (A-E in Scotland and Wales)

  • You’re on a low income, receive certain benefits, or are considered vulnerable to cold
